Last night we were able to deliver some of the pictures that we had been given by Rickly, Lucy, and Rosa. To give those pictures away was a lot of fun, especially when some of the children had not seen their own picture before. And although my digital camera has a display with a playback feature, its not the same as being given your picture to KEEP. =) The amazing thing is that they remember the times that our last team was here as if it had happened earlier that day. It is amazing to think about the impact that our teams have on these people.
Today we we able to sleep in, somewhat, and relax during breakfast. Once we were dressed and ready to go outside, we went to the market to buy fabric so that more traditional "mexican" clothes can be made. That is a major boost for the people who we meet, because us attempting to wear traditional clothing shows a level of respect for the culture that many white people who visit Mexico don't care to show. So we went to some of the fabric shops in the market and the took it to a tailor to have our clothes made. The plan is that as more teams come to Mexico, they can hit the ground running with clothes to wear, which also is impressive to the people with which we come into contact. So for those future travellers to Mexico, you will have plenty of sweet threads when you get here.
Later this afternoon we will be travelling to Oaxaca to load three pickup trucks full of food and supplies that we will be delivering to villages in the middle of Mexico, some of which were villages where Ricky, Lucy and Rosa took pictures. It will be about a three day trip to delver th food and spend time with the people. So Chavez and I will be out of contact until possibly Friday. Please pray for God to move in the lives of those whom we meet, especially since there is a real chance that the Gospel will be presented for the first time to some people. Pray for safe travels, especially since our vehicles will be going hrough rough terrain, with little room for mechanical failure. It would be a LONG walk back home. Also pray for fair weather. Rain would be great for the land and crops here, but we also don't want it to hinder the delivering of the food. Can we ask for a continual light misting? Perhaps what you get at amusment parks. That would be AWESOME. =)
We humbly ask for prayer with regards to a friend of ours, who spends a lot of time with Poncho and Gabriella. He has heard the Gospel many times, but the continuing pressure from family keeps him from taking any sort of "next step" concerning his relationship with God. We have seen that he understands much of what we say, but lately he has been stuck on some of the differences between our beliefs. So we ask that God grabs a hold of his heart and shows that He can fill any void that we have in our hearts and lives.
So for now Chavez and I will be resting until we leave to deliver food.
